Sport is woven into everyday life at Oundle. All pupils take part in sport at least three afternoons a week, and we place equal value on enjoyment and excellence — whether that’s representing the School in competitive fixtures or simply building a lifelong love of being active.
Our core sports are rugby (for boys), hockey (for everyone) and netball (for girls), with cricket, tennis and athletics in the summer term. Rowing and swimming run year-round, and from Year 10, pupils can also take up boys’ football, squash and sailing. In the Sixth Form, girls can join football and rugby squads, and our basketball programme continues to grow. There’s plenty more to explore too — including fives, dance and small-bore shooting.
We’re fortunate to have outstanding facilities. The recently opened sports centre includes a fully equipped gym, dance studios, a multi-sport hall, golf simulators and a 50-metre pool with adjustable floor. These sit alongside a full-sized tartan athletics track, extensive pitches and tennis and netball courts — giving pupils space and structure to challenge themselves and enjoy the process.
For those pursuing high-level performance, we have highly valued partnerships with Northampton Saints Rugby, Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and Adam Peaty Race Clinics — giving pupils the chance to train and compete at the highest level while remaining fully part of School life
