Yes. Oundle places great importance on supporting pupils beyond the formal classroom and there are several ways pupils can access help, whether they are looking to stretch themselves further or need clarification on a topic.
Key opportunities include Voluntaries (Vols) and Academic Surgeries. Those are held on Tuesday afternoons. During this time, all pupils are welcome to drop in to any academic department for support. These sessions are used to extend or deepen understanding, review work in progress or revisit material from lessons — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.
In addition to Voluntaries, pupils often seek informal support from teachers during the school day. Departments are open and accessible and teachers are always willing to answer questions, offer guidance or provide feedback outside of timetabled lessons.
The close relationships formed through the Tutor and House system also mean that academic concerns are quickly identified and supported. Tutors often help pupils reflect on their progress and direct them to the right support as needed.
This flexible, responsive approach to academic help encourages independence, while ensuring pupils feel supported at every stage of their learning.
