Pastoral care and inclusivity are central to life at Oundle. We aim to foster a respectful, supportive and diverse community where every pupil is known, valued and able to thrive.
At the heart of our pastoral structure is the House and Tutor system, ensuring each pupil has regular, meaningful contact with adults who know them well and can guide and support them day to day.
Pupil leadership plays a vital role in shaping school culture. Heads of School and Prefects lead initiatives such as the annual Pupil Voice survey, while the Pupil Pastoral Forum (PPF) represents pupil perspectives on areas including racial diversity, mental health, LGBTQ+ inclusion, gender equality and environmental sustainability. Pupils also sit on staff committees covering issues such as online safety and accessibility.
Mental health is a priority. Pupils have access to a dedicated Emotional Wellbeing Team, in addition to the Health Centre and Chaplaincy.
Our Learning for Life programme — co-developed with pupils and supported by external partners — builds character, resilience and thoughtful decision-making across all year groups.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are embedded in daily life through staff training, open dialogue and meaningful pupil involvement. These are not standalone initiatives, but part of the way we live and work together.
Oundle is a place where kindness, decency and responsibility are not just encouraged — they are expected. We believe a strong, inclusive culture allows young people to grow with confidence, integrity and respect for others — ready for the diverse world beyond school.
