Our Careers department is a welcoming space where pupils can explore their interests, ask questions and plan for the future. Led by two full-time dedicated advisors and supported by teaching staff, the team offers personalised support for every stage of a pupil’s journey — from early exploration to university and career applications.
Our formal programme has two complementary strands:
-
Academic guidance, focusing on subject choices, university applications and post-18 pathways.
-
Professional preparation, including CV writing, interview skills, work experience and insight into future careers.
The journey begins early. In the First and Second Forms, pupils have lessons each half term that link school subjects with the world of work. In the Third Form, the Trivium programme encourages pupils to reflect on transferable skills and how they develop them at school.
In the Fourth and Fifth Forms, the focus turns to making informed choices about Sixth Form subjects, and how these align with future goals. During the Fifth and Sixth Forms, pupils are guided through CV writing, interview practice, research into higher education and careers, and preparation for applications and admissions tests.
Opportunities and events — from talks to summer schools and insight courses — are regularly shared with pupils, and support continues throughout the Sixth Form as they make confident, well-informed decisions about life beyond Oundle.
