Preparing pupils for life beyond school is about more than just achieving strong exam results. While high-quality university applications matter, so too does what pupils bring beyond the classroom — confidence, independence, curiosity, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Oundle’s wide-ranging co-curricular programme helps pupils build exactly those qualities, offering them the chance to develop real-world experience, broaden their perspectives and grow into confident, capable young adults. These qualities are increasingly valued by universities and employers alike.
Our Careers department is a dedicated, welcoming space, led by two full-time advisors and supported by teaching staff. Pupils are encouraged to drop in and discuss any aspect of their higher education or career thinking, whether they have a clear path in mind or are still exploring their options.
We run a structured careers programme with two complementary strands:
-
Academic and Higher Education Guidance: Supporting Sixth Form subject choices, university research and application writing.
-
Professional and Career Preparation: Covering CV building, interview practice, work experience and insight into graduate employment pathways.
Above all, our approach is personal. We work with pupils over time to help them understand their strengths, make informed decisions and feel ready for the next stage — wherever it takes them.
