Oundle has a rich and inclusive House structure. We have eight senior boys’ boarding Houses, five senior girls’ boarding Houses, one mixed junior boarding House, two senior day Houses and one junior day House.
While some families have a clear preference — often due to a sibling or family connection — many look to us for guidance. Our aim is always to find the right fit for each child, ensuring every House has a broad and balanced mix of pupils with a range of personalities and interests.
Meeting a Housemaster or Housemistress and visiting a House in person is an important part of getting to know Oundle, whether on an Open Day or during an individual visit. You’re welcome to express a House preference when you register, but it’s by no means essential.
In the end, whatever House pupils join, they quickly come to believe — with complete conviction — that theirs is the best. And that’s exactly how it should be!
