Is Oundle academically selective?

Yes, Oundle is academically selective — but not excessively so and we are certainly no hot house. We welcome bright, sparky pupils who are curious, keen to get involved and ready to make the most of what the School has to offer.

There is no single ‘type’ of Oundelian. Quiet, creative pupils are just as likely to find their place here as sporty, outgoing individuals. What matters is that pupils are open-minded, willing to give things a go and eager to be part of a busy, engaged community.

Entry Scholarships provide support for pupils with particular strengths, and we continue to identify and nurture emerging talent throughout a pupil’s time at the School. Those who join without a Scholarship are still able to access enrichment and development opportunities as their interests grow.

Our focus in Admissions is on getting the fit right — for each child and for the School as a whole. We work closely with prospective families and prep schools to make sure Oundle is the right place for the right child.
