What dance opportunities are available at Oundle?
One of the advantages of being part of a small market town is the extra opportunities that we have on our doorstep.
Several of our pupils attend classes at the Oundle School of Ballet. They offer a full range of classes across ballet, contemporary and jazz and cater to all levels and abilities, including to ISTD examinations. Lisa Hunter, who trained at the Royal Ballet, is a wonderful teacher of the Cecchetti method. Many of our boarding and day pupils attend classes in the evenings - individual arrangements can always be discussed if classes clash with supper/prep.
In School, we offer as Electives (after-School classes) in Street Dance for First, Second, Third and Fourth Formers. We also offer Street Dance and Contemporary as a Sport (sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons) which is open to Fifth/Sixth Form pupils in the Michaelmas, Lent Terms. There is a further, more varied Dance class available in the Summer Term.
We run a Dance Show every year, and there are always opportunities for Dance in musical and School performances throughout the year. Very often, auditions are opened to the whole School for upcoming events rather than just those in classes.
