With regard to English language support, from the First to Third Form (Year 7 – Year 9), we offer a one-year EAP group course in place of one of the modern foreign language options. EAP stands for ‘English for Academic Purposes’ and this course is wholly aimed at supporting pupils in their use of written and verbal English across the curriculum. There is no cost for this. Parents need to opt for EAP when filling out the language choices form as part of the joining process.
We also offer individual EAP lessons that are chargeable to parents, and these can be from 25 minutes to 50 minutes depending on need. Some children continue with these after the one-year course, or if there is additional need to the group course. There is no need to book these in now however: we assess pupils’ language and needs at the start of their time with us, following which decisions about group or individual support are finalised.
