What makes Oundle’s Sixth Form distinctive?

Sixth Form at Oundle offers serious stretch and subject-specialist teaching within an environment that is purposeful, supportive and balanced. Pupils are treated as thinkers, not just learners — challenged to explore their subjects in real depth and take ownership of their education.

Unlike many schools that separate their Sixth Form into a standalone centre, Oundle’s Sixth Formers are at the heart of the School — visible, valued and trusted to lead. They shape the tone of House life, co-curricular activity, academic societies and School culture. Whether pupils are new joiners or continuing from our Fifth Form, the Sixth Form feels like both a culmination and a fresh start.

One of the defining features of Sixth Form life at Oundle is the freedom offered by our town-based campus. Sixth Formers move through their days with a degree of independence more akin to university — managing their time, using study spaces across School and making the most of everything our community offers. It’s a setting that nurtures maturity, self-motivation and grounded confidence.

This environment produces strong academic outcomes: around 10% of pupils receive Oxbridge offers each year, and a further 10% go on to prestigious international institutions, including in the US. The vast majority of the rest take up places at leading Russell Group universities. More importantly, Sixth Formers leave Oundle ready not only for the academic demands of university but with the perspective, independence and quiet confidence to make the most of it.
